Maybe I’m just homesick for Italy…
It’s now just about a week since I returned to the US from my six-week trip to Italy, and although the first couple of days were fine – little to no jetlag, getting reacquainted with my cats, teaching the cafe around the corner how to make a marocchino – things took a decidedly downward turn on Sunday. I was on my way to pick up the husband from his flight, when I realized that my usual post-trip head-cold seemed to be coming on. But by the time I’d retrieved him at the airport and was driving home, the head-cold had turned into a low-grade fever. Yeah, not fun.
At any rate, the fever didn’t last long – it broke sometime Sunday night – but it left in its place a horrible hacking cough that hasn’t slowed since Monday morning. I actually think my abdominal muscles may be bruised from all the coughing, if that’s even humanly possible. I do feel like I’m getting better (finally), though it’s very slow progress I’m making.
All this is to say two things – first, I know the deadline for the Italy photo contest was Monday, and the winner is to be named by April 7. Well, I’m going to try to stick to that schedule, but please forgive me if I’m a day or two behind on that. Second, because I’m now back in the US, I’m probably going to be posting a bit less than I had been while I was in Italy. I’m still going to try to get something new up every weekday, but the weekends might be quieter. It is, after all, finally Spring – and we should all (me included) be outside every so often enjoying the nicer weather, right?
Don’t worry, I’ve still got loads of information to share with you about my trip – tips about where to eat, what to see, where to stay, and how to get around – and that will keep me busy here for a good long time to come. And, as always, if you aren’t finding something that you’re looking for here, please send me a note or leave a comment and I’ll try to help you out!
In the meantime, don’t turn your speakers up too much or you might hear me coughing.
