Racial Tension in Italy is Very Real – Does it Lead to Murder?

Awhile ago, I wrote about the murder of a family that had taken place in southern Italy. Corpodibacco rightly points out that one of the things that’s been touched on in stories about the killings – but, at least as far as I’ve seen, only glossed over – is the racial element. One of the women killed lived with a man from Tunisia, and the couple’s son (a mixed race child) was also killed.

Racism in Italy is becoming more prevalent as immigration (from Albania especially) increases, despite statistics such as the one in this story, saying mixed marriages are rising dramatically.

There’s no reason to believe racial tensions will go away quietly or on their own.
