Cheap Hotels in Sorrento
While Sorrento isn’t technically part of the Amalfi Coast, it’s very close to the Amalfi and it makes a great base from which to explore both the famous coastal towns, the nearby islands, the big city of Naples, as well as the archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum. It’s also a stop on many cruise tours of the Mediterranean, so although the number of true hotel bargains may be lower as compared to some other parts of southern Italy, you won’t lack for hotel choices.
Sorrento is quite small, but it’s also quite vertical. Most of your hotel options will be up on the higher part of the city, away from the port, but regardless of where your hotel is make sure you find out how to get there – if they don’t have a shuttle service (many don’t), ask about the local bus schedule so you can time your arrival to coincide with a bus to take you to the top of the hill.
