Italy Hotels with a View: Lake Maggiore
Lake Maggiore – Lago Maggiore in Italian – is, as the name implies, one of the larger lakes in the country. It lies in northern Italy long the border with Switzerland, and in fact part of the lake itself is in the Italian canton of Switzerland. As it’s such a big lake, it makes sense that there are plenty of towns along the shore that have hotels with great views of the lake.
In other words, this list of hotels with a view of Lake Maggiore isn’t complete – it’s merely meant to help narrow the long list to something a bit more manageable.
These hotels run the gamut from high-end luxury properties to more reasonable smaller hotels, but they don’t really qualify in the “budget hotel” category. Getting a room with a view of one of Italy’s most popular lakes comes at a price.
4 Lake Maggiore Hotels With a View
Grand Hotel Bristol – Stresa
The luxurious Grand Hotel Bristol is right on the lakefront in Stresa – just across a road from the lake itself – and there are more than 250 rooms available. The hotel’s property includes an expansive front lawn and a large swimming pool, both of which are ideal for relaxing when you don’t want to walk too far from your room. All the rooms have private balconies, and many overlook the lake.
Grand Hotel Dino – Baveno
The Grand Hotel Dino is not far from Stresa in the town of Baveno, and has more than 380 rooms. Every room in the hotel has a balcony, and most of them have a lake view. The hotel has a couple of on-site restaurants – both with lovely lake views – and several on-site bars/lounges as well. There’s a wellness center at the hotel, including an indoor lap pool and a Turkish bath.
Hotel Pallanza – Verbania
The Hotel Pallanza is not far from the center of Verbania, and the hotel itself is right on the lake. Rooms are furnished with the basics (nothing opulent). There’s an on-site restaurant and a terrace which is ideal for relaxing with a drink.
Stresa B&B – Stresa
The Stresa B&B hotel is in the center of the town, and a very short distance from the lakefront. The rooms are artfully decorated, and – as the name suggests – breakfast is included with the price of the room. This is a very small B&B, with only three rooms. Two rooms share a bathroom (these rooms are less expensive), and only one has a lake view.
