Italy Hotels with a View: Lake Como
As Italy’s most famous lake, Lake Como is understandably surrounded by luxury hotels boasting fabulous views. There are towns all along the shoreline, and each of them seems to have a noteworthy hotel with a view. This list of hotels with views of Lake Como isn’t meant to be exhaustive, then, but merely to give you a smaller selection of hotels to choose from.
Some of the properties here are on the luxury end, while others are more reasonable for people traveling on something less than a movie-star budget. These aren’t budget hotels, however – if you want a lake view, you’re going to have to pay for it.
6 Lake Como Hotels With a View
Grand Hotel Tremezzo – Tremezzo
The incredible Grand Hotel Tremezzo is one of the oldest hotels on Lake Como, and it’s right on the lake. All rooms facing the lake have private balconies, and rooms on the opposite side of the hotel have views overlooking the park. The decor is palatial, there’s an on-site spa, the private hotel pool is actually in the lake itself (and another – indoor – pool in the spa), and the hotel has an assortment of top-notch on-site restaurants.
Il Perlo Panorama – Bellagio
The hotel Il Perlo Panorama is situated about 3km from the town of Bellagio, but because it’s up on a hill some of the rooms (and the hotel’s terraces) still have lovely views of the lake and surrounding area. This hotel offers a buffet breakfast included with your stay, and there’s a shuttle bus that runs to/from Bellagio a few times each day (for a fee).
Hotel Bellagio – Bellagio
The Hotel Bellagio is another small hotel in the town of Bellagio, although it’s not right at the lakefront – instead the entrance is up a stairway from water level, which gives the rooms good views of the lake. In fact, almost all the rooms (especially rooms on the upper floors) have lake views. Furnishings are basic, but the view should make up for that.
Hotel du Lac – Bellagio
The beautiful Hotel du Lac is right on the waterfront in the center of Bellagio, giving you easy access to the town as well as lake views from some of the rooms. This hotel has been managed by the same family for more than 50 years. There are 30 doubles and 9 singles in the hotel, all furnished comfortably and simply, and there’s an on-site restaurant (which also overlooks the lake) and bar.
Hotel Villa Cipressi – Varenna
The Hotel Villa Cipressi isn’t one building, but rather a complex of buildings – some of which date back to the 1400s. The property overlooks the lake and has a total of 32 rooms. The furnishings are basic – nothing palatial here – and not all the rooms have lake views. The good news is that even in the lowest price range there are a few rooms overlooking the lake, so budget travelers just need to make sure they book one of those rooms.
Hotel Don Abbondio – Lecco
The Hotel Don Abbondio is a small hotel – only 18 rooms. Some of the rooms overlook the town’s pretty Piazza Era, some of them overlook the lake. There’s a buffet breakfast available for an additional daily fee.
