New Video Game Set in Anacapri, Italy
In this world where virtual realities sometimes threaten to take over the real reality, there is a new video game that is set in community of Anacapri, on the island of Capri off the coast of Italy. The goal of “Anacapri: The Dream” will be to find an ancient artifact somewhere in Anacapri, thereby saving the village. Along the way, you get to meet some of the real people who live or have lived in Anacapri and make your way through actual sights in the community.
If you’re thinking of a kind of combination of Indiana Jones meets Myst, you’re probably not far off. But if you’re confined to a non-Italian computer for any length of time, this game might be the escape you’re looking for. And, as zoomata points out, since Claude Debussy was a sometime-resident of Anacapri, he just might pop up in the cast of characters. That alone might be worth the price of admission.
You can check out the official site for “Anacapri: The Dream” here, and a trailer for the game here. The graphics look gorgeous, and with more than 8,000 actual images of the village and the surrounding area, it’s bound to make even non-gamers want to hop on a plane. After they find the threatening Obsidian Disk and heroically save the villagers, of course.
Thanks for the heads-up on the game from both Italofile and zoomata.
